Turning the page

Jason -

The truth is, I probably would never have gotten into politics if it weren't for Donald Trump. The ugliness, pettiness, and blatant disregard for what makes this country great, it was all too much for this retired Marine to watch from the sidelines.

I announced my campaign for Congress over seven years ago, and I don't regret a single minute of what I've done since. There have been sleepless nights, personal attacks, and humbling results (as well as democracy-saving victories). I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. After all, the oath I took to defend our Constitution is always top of mind.

What I regret is that Trump has been allowed to dominate this chapter of American life — that the entire country has been wrapped around his whims and ridiculous, awful actions for nearly a decade. I hate that politics has gotten so nasty and mean-spirited. And I personally regret spending too many hours of my life thinking about that man and what he's said and done.

I'm not going to list for you the ways in which Trump has disqualified himself from being our president. (Honestly, there's only so much time in the day, and you don't need the reminder.) But I want to call your attention to his behavior in these final days of the election, because I think they tell a powerful story. The rage, the threats of violence, the delusions of election "stealing," the seething fantasies of revenge against his political opponents — all of it front and center in his final case to the American people.

To me, that's the sign of a man who is desperate. And a desperate man is not someone who can lead the free world.

Tomorrow, we turn the page.

For our democracy's sake, for the health and safety of our communities, for our friendships and family relationships, this era must end. I know this is a divided country, and I know there are many on the other side who are passionate about what they believe.

But at the end of the day, most people don't want four more years of chaos and cruelty. The American people will reject Donald Trump and his dark vision for our future. That's not a prediction — it's what I believe in my heart.

That's far from a guarantee. The polls say this is a toss-up. Our country's future could very well come down to what happens between now and tomorrow night.

That's a reminder that there's still time on the clock. There are still millions of votes left to be cast — and who shows up will determine the outcomes in each battleground.

If you can…

For the last seven years, this team has always had my back. And I'm so proud to be part of this grassroots operation.

Our mission is not yet complete — tomorrow, we finish the job.

Thank you,

Amy
