We need to talk about Putin

Jason,

The relationship Donald Trump has with the murderous, autocratic, former KGB operative who runs one of our nation's biggest world adversaries has always been downright suspicious.

This week, we learned it's so much worse than that.

Legendary journalist Bob Woodward reported this week that Trump has had at least seven phone conversations with Putin — since leaving office. He's even shooed his staff away so he can take those conversations privately.

Now, look, it'd be one thing if this were just a doddering, 78-year-old ex-president wanting to chat up a foreign leader who's said nice things about him. But we're talking about a doddering, 78-year-old ex-president who is trying very hard to become president again.

That's, at best, highly inappropriate and dangerous. At worst, well… I don't even want to think about it.

Right now, that man has a 50-50 chance of being the next president. In my eyes, every patriotic American has a duty — to our nation and to one another — to do everything we can to stop that from happening. If you can, chip in right now and fund our work to reach pro-democracy voters in key battlegrounds.

The other jaw-dropping headline coming out of Woodward's reporting shows you the cruelty and cluelessness that drives Donald Trump.

Rewind four years, back in those early days of the COVID pandemic. Woodward reports that, at a time when American hospitals were in desperate need of more testing infrastructure, Donald Trump actually shipped rapid testing machines to Putin. (The Kremlin just confirmed it!) When you consider how devastating COVID was at that time, it's not an exaggeration to say Americans likely died because of what Donald Trump did for his pal Putin.

We already knew Donald Trump was willing to sacrifice our NATO allies to Putin (remember his famous "let Russia do whatever the hell they want?") Now we know he's willing to give up American lives, too.

That's a really dark, depressing thing to consider. So let me leave you on a hopeful note: The voters we're trying to reach in this election are repelled by this kind of behavior from Trump. They don't like his cozying up to dictators like Putin, and they fear what he'll do to our democracy in a second term.

There are over 4.5 million pro-democracy voters in the seven battleground states that will decide this election. Let's do our jobs and make sure they hear our message that Donald Trump is a dangerous, un-democratic choice — rush in a donation to help get it done.

Thank you,

Amy
