Donald Trump recently announced his plan to appoint Representative Matt Gaetz to U.S. Attorney General. Gaetz immediately stepped down from his position as representative in order to prevent the House Ethics Committee from releasing the results of their years-long investigation into his past. After major public pressure, Gaetz rejected Trump's appointment this week. However, Republicans in the House Ethics Committee are still trying to block the damning ethics report from coming out. The allegations against Matt Gaetz are serious — he's accused of numerous instances of innapropriate sexual contact with minors. Corrupt Republicans are trying to cover for Matt Gaetz and his potential crimes. Democrats have to take action now to preserve accountability in our government.
