But Congressional Republicans are trying to cut over $20 billion from IRS enforcement, meaning the agency will have less resources to catch billionaire tax cheats and help working families. If this dangerous cut is enacted, over 90% of the money that the IRS is allocated to crack down on rich tax cheats will be gone. That money was intended to last the IRS 10 years, but if Republicans succeed, the IRS won't even have sufficient enforcement funds for 2025. Sign on today to tell Congress: Protect IRS funding and make wealthy tax cheats pay what they owe. That's not all: House Republicans are also trying to cut the IRS' annual budget overall — this will help them secure even more tax cuts for the mega-rich under Trump. Democrats must hold the line. Congressional Republicans want to protect their wealthy donors and safeguard tax cheats by gutting this funding before the upcoming fight over renewing the Trump tax code. Everyday American families and small businesses will suffer the consequences of this proposed funding cut. Every tax dollar that the uber wealthy fail to pay translates to up to nine dollars taken away from our schools, our roads, or our support of veterans. For too long, the ultra-wealthy and big corporations exploited an underfunded IRS to avoid paying what they owe in taxes. Republicans' plans would undermine the progress we've made toward a fair tax system in recent years. The IRS has recovered over $1.3 billion from high-income Americans who failed to pay what they owe. The new Direct File system has already saved 15,000 taxpayers $5.6 million in tax preparation fees. We refuse to allow Republicans to let the uber wealthy play by different rules than the rest of us. Tell Congress: Don't cut IRS funding in the end-of-year government funding bill and stop wealthy tax cheats from evading what they owe.
