4 years ago today, I was walking into the Capitol for my shift as a Capitol police officer. I wouldn't know it yet, but my life was about to change forever. I'd be attacked. Beaten with clubs, baseball bats. Sprayed with WD-40, pepper spray, bear spray. Called slurs that I'd never been called in my life. An angry mob, emboldened by Donald Trump and MAGA-extremists pushing the Big Lie, would storm the Capitol. Never caring about the lives of me and my fellow officers. They destroyed a sacred place, an institution dedicated to upholding the rule of law. And they attempted to destroy democracy. My life changed on January 6. It's the reason I've spent the last 4 years fighting. Our fight for democracy is never over, especially with Donald Trump taking office two weeks from today. I need you to dig deep right now. Will you chip in a split contribution of $10 or more to Dunn's Democracy Defenders and Voter Protection Project to help reach our goal before midnight tonight? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between Dunn's Democracy Defenders and VPP will go through immediately: It's not dramatic to say that our democracy is on thin ice – but I can't save it alone. Harry | 401 2nd Ave. S, Ste. 303, Seattle, WA 98104 The Voter Protection Project is on an important mission: To end partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression by electing candidates at the state and federal levels that are forceful advocates for voting rights. Our enfranchisement agenda includes working to ensure that every state has automatic voter registration and online voter registration, convenient early voting, and independent redistricting commissions to ensure politicians are not able to draw their own maps.
