We wanted to make sure you saw Jon's note yesterday about Donald Trump firing inspectors general at key federal agencies.
Like Jon said, this is a big deal.
On Monday, Trump continued to go after anyone who he thinks might attempt to hold him or his administration accountable — this time firing over a dozen career prosecutors in the Justice Department.

On Friday night, Trump summarily fired around 17 inspectors general at federal agencies, including the Departments of Defense, State, Transportation, Labor, Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Energy, and Agriculture.
He is required by law to provide 30-day advance notification and an explanation to Congress before removing IGs.
He did not.
This is a big deal.
Inspectors general are crucial independent watchdogs, with real investigative powers, who probe corruption and abuse and then report to Congress and the public.
The sudden purge of IGs across the federal government (presumably to be replaced with loyalists) is evidence of a concerted effort to destroy independent oversight of the Trump Administration.
This purge is further evidence of the President's contempt for accountability and the rule of law.
Remember, last week he pardoned MAGA-aligned militiamen and rioters who sacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.
As he eliminates oversight and those suspected of "disloyalty" across the Executive Branch, Congress is the *only* check on President Trump.
We HAVE to defend and gain seats.
