This week, Angela Alsobrooks won her primary in Maryland — she'll be the Democrat vying to keep that Senate seat blue.
I've heard some people say, well, you know her opponent isn't a Trump Republican, so he's "not that bad." And I just have to stop them right there: If a wannabe senator says he'll caucus with MAGA leadership in his party, that's plenty bad enough for me.
Look, control of the Senate is 50-50 today. And nearly every top race this fall involves a seat currently held by a Democrat — meaning if we lose just one of these races, we lose control of the Senate.

I personally love that Angela is a trailblazer herself — there are several history-making milestones on her resume, including the youngest and first woman to ever be elected district attorney in Prince George's County, Maryland. She was also the first woman and first Black woman elected county executive there as well, where she built a reputation for going after corruption and official misconduct.
The way she's spent her career tells us that she has what it takes to be an excellent United States senator. But because Maryland is considered a blue state, there's a real danger of overlooking the fact it's also a must win for holding the Senate.
