Hi, friend — I'm Liz, Brady's Vice President of Development. I am coming to you today in the same way that I come to my work at Brady every day: as a gun violence survivor. This work is personal to me, and I want you to know how important it is to have you in this fight with us. |
My mom was murdered in a senseless shooting nearly two decades ago. She was shot by a stranger when she answered the door of her home. Since then, not a day has gone by that I don't think about her, the secrets that I want to share with her, and the advice I want to ask her. My kids will never get the chance to meet her — and I still grieve the time our family will never get to spend together. It took me a long time to turn my grief into action, friend, but now, I am fighting for life-saving change. |
Brady is led by gun violence survivors, and as the vice president of development, I advocate for common-sense gun safety policies that can help prevent deaths like my mom's — because no other family should have to endure this pain. And we depend on grassroots gun-safety advocates like you to support our critical work. Friend, will you make a gift of $5 right now to help Brady prevent gun violence and save lives? |
Brady is named for gun violence survivors Jim and Sarah Brady: After Jim was nearly killed during the assassination attempt on President Reagan in 1981, he and his wife dedicated their lives to preventing gun violence. Their fierce advocacy led to the passage of the Brady Bill — the landmark legislation that federally mandated background checks on gun sales and continues to save countless lives. |
And right now, we're on the cusp of passing landmark legislation like that again, friend. People across the country are demanding it: 97% of Americans support universal background checks, and 67% support a ban on assault weapons. With gun safety champions in Congress and the White House, we have our best chance in years to make these common-sense solutions a reality. |
But Brady can't do it without you. Friend, if we are going to finally pass common-sense legislation and save lives, we need to sustain this incredible momentum. Brady is working in Congress, in courts, and in communities every day to save lives and end gun violence, and you are a critical partner: That's why I'm asking you, friend, to make a donation to Brady today and commit to this fight. |
Will you give a gift of $5 or more right now and sustain our fight to pass common-sense legislation and save lives? |

Thank you for being a part of our movement to stop senseless deaths from gun violence. Liz Dunning Gun Violence Survivor & Vice President of Development |
