| Kristen Welker, NBC News: Jason, in one four-second exchange, we witnessed the danger this presidency poses to the future of our republic. Donald Trump has twice raised his hand and taken an oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." No "if" … no "but"... no "unless" … I've taken that oath, too, and it's the reason I'm still in this fight, even when it'd be far easier to just forget the whole thing. That's because I believe with my whole heart that those of us who love this country, especially those who have sworn to defend it, have a duty to fight for it — "against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Hearing the president openly doubt his obligation to the Constitution shouldn't surprise anyone. His actions have screamed disdain for the rule of law and anyone or anything that dares get in his way. He's told us he'd rather be a dictator. In fact, on his birthday next month, "Dear Leader" is demanding a $45 million military parade in his honor. These are crystallizing moments for Americans who believe in democracy. It's a big reason why Trump's support among independents is plummeting right now. And it's going to get a whole lot worse in the weeks ahead. Look, I wish we'd have won the fight against Trumpism several years ago. But that didn't happen. The fight goes on. And I can assure you I'm not going anywhere until the mission is complete. Thank you, Amy

What kind of man takes an oath he fundamentally doesn’t understand
