I want to be very clear with you about what just happened in Washington.
After years of attacking the Affordable Care Act and weeks of doing absolutely nothing while health care costs skyrocketed – Ryan Mackenzie just signed onto a maneuver to force a vote on ACA tax credits.
Not because he had a change of heart.
Not because he finally decided to stand up to his party.
But because Ryan Mackenzie knows he's one of the most vulnerable Republicans in Congress, and Pennsylvania voters were ready to hold him accountable. |
| For months, Mackenzie hid behind Speaker Mike Johnson and Republican leadership while 22 million Americans faced the prospect of doubled premiums. He openly admitted he "couldn't" force action. He dismissed the ACA as a "broken system." And he refused to back the strongest proposal to actually protect families for the long term.
Only when his reelection was clearly at risk did he wobble.
This is just political damage control. We deserve better than a Congressman who waits until the last possible moment and only acts when his job is on the line.
I'm running because health care isn't a talking point to me. It's personal. And I will never play games with people's lives to score political points.
