Taking back Tennessee

My home state is a testing ground for extremist legislation, but we're also a state where working people are getting organized and fighting back.

Dirt Road PAC

Hi Jason, Lee Harris here — mayor of Shelby County, Tennessee, reaching out on behalf of Dirt Road PAC with an important message.

For the Democratic Party to succeed, we need to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

That means not only supporting top-of-the-ticket and battleground campaigns.

It also means supporting the grassroots of our party and stopping extremist legislation at its source — like at the State Capitol of the Tennessee General Assembly.

Jason, my home state is a testing ground for extremist legislation, but we're also a state where working people are getting organized and fighting back. Here in Shelby County, the home of Memphis and our state's largest county, to hundreds of communities from the Mississippi River to the Smoky Mountains.

The Tennessee Democratic Party is organizing in big cities, college towns, and rural areas across the state to build a multiracial coalition of working people. We're fighting to expand affordable healthcare, fully fund public schools, protect a woman's right to choose, and make working one job enough by guaranteeing livable wages.

Compare that to Tennessee Republicans. They're pro-death penalty and believe healthcare profiteering is a feature, not a bug, of our current system. They've made Tennessee one of just twelve states that have refused to expand Medicaid — even with federal funding available to help them do it.

They're anti-vax, anti-food assistance, and anti-living wage.

The prototypical "pro-life Republican" is an oxymoron indeed.

If you agree that we need to build up our Democratic state parties, I'm humbly asking you to support our work here by splitting a donation between Dirt Road PAC and the Tennessee Democratic Party today.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation to Dirt Road PAC and the Tennessee Democratic Party will go through immediately:

Your support for the Tennessee Democratic Party helps us build the resources to strengthen our data operation to reach voters, train volunteers, and organize local communities and campaigns.

These are the types of donations that can be force multipliers — because you're not just supporting one campaign, but a state party apparatus that's dedicated to our mission for the long haul.

That's what the Tennessee Democratic Party is here to do, and why we depend on supporters like you.

So if you're able, please split a donation between the Tennessee Democratic Party and Dirt Road PAC today.

Thanks,

Lee Harris
Mayor of Shelby County, Tennessee
