| Today is the birthday of someone who's really special to me: Democratic Assistant Leader Jim Clyburn. I met the Congressman when I was in high school -- he spoke at my installation ceremony when I was elected president of my school's National Honor Society. The Boss, as most of us call him, has been my mentor ever since then Jason. I was a member of his staff in Congress, and he helped me when I ran for the Senate in 2020. We're still working closely today! He is still working tirelessly to win back the House, defend the Senate, and send President Biden back to the White House in 2024. As Democrats, Jason, we work tirelessly to make sure every voice is heard. I can't think of many people who embody or have done more for furthering those values than the Boss. As a leading figure in our country's Civil Rights Movement, the Congressman blazed a path toward justice and equality for all. As Assistant Democratic Leader in the House, he remains a trailblazer as he advocates for access to affordable health care, keeping communities safe from gun violence, and broadband in every home. I want to wish my mentor a happy birthday and thank him for all he does for our country. One of the best ways we can do that is by supporting our efforts in 2024.
