Minnesota Governor Tim Walz brings to the ticket a background as a distinguished veteran of the Army National Guard rising to the rank of Command Sergeant major (no small feat!). He's a former social studies teacher, a champion of common-sense, progressive values as governor, and just a tell-it-like-it-is kind of guy. And his record of fighting for the children and families of Minnesota speaks for itself. From free lunch and breakfast in all K-12 public schools and cutting taxes for the middle class to historic investments in veteran services and infrastructure, Tim Walz doesn't just talk – he takes action. Here's why that matters: Our target audience in this election is pro-democracy voters — millions of folks in battleground states (many from military families) who might typically lean Republican but are turned off by Trump's dangerous, anti-democratic positions. Our research suggests the most effective messengers to persuade this swath of voters are people who've dedicated their careers to serving their country and their communities. That's exactly who Tim Walz is. Our mission is coming into focus — let's reach as many of these pro-democracy voters in key states as we can before Election Day.
