It's been great to see MAGA Republicans finally called out for being so out of step with basic American values.
Yes, as Governor Walz says, these guys are weird, and they believe some really weird things.
But we can't just call them weird, at least not when it comes to the swing voters we believe will determine the outcome of this election. These voters are alarmed about Trump and Vance not just because what they stand for is strange — but because what they stand for is dangerous and deeply undemocratic.
Project 2025 is weird. But more importantly, it's the MAGA playbook to bring dictatorship to America. The pro-democracy voters who hold the keys in this election need to hear that as much as possible before Election Day.
No other organization is focused purely on reaching this part of the electorate — will you help fund the mission-critical work of reaching pro-democracy voters in battleground states?
You know, these guys try to make fun of Kamala Harris for laughing, but they nominated someone who has spent years of his life in front of a camera and somehow has never (to my knowledge) been seen laughing. Deeply weird stuff.
But that's not the story I want to tell every day from now until November — this is:
Republicans nominated a guy who is still an unabashed election denier, who congratulated Putin (not our freed Americans) for last week's prisoner exchange, who told an audience the other day that "you won't have to vote anymore" after this election. Their nominee has been convicted of 34 felonies stemming from trying to deceive voters in the 2016 election. He says he wants to be a "dictator on Day One."
Pro-democracy voters need to know that a second Trump term is an existential threat to the American experiment — so let's tell them.
As a wise vice president once said, when we fight, we win. Let's fight with everything we've got.
