Jason,
The way the media covers the January 6th attack could lead some people to think there are two legitimate sides to this issue.
There aren't. The fact is that a mob attempted an insurrection on the 6th of January, and several Republicans let it happen. Worse, many cheered it on.
Republican leaders now seem to believe if they can escape accountability for just a little longer and win back Congress in the next election, what happened on January 6th will become ancient history.
Our mission is simple: Don't let them get away with it.
I'm sickened by how many news programs have allowed Republicans to go on TV and repeat lies about the 2020 election. I'm tired of hearing evidence-free suggestions of "irregularities" and "doubts" about the integrity of the election.
Look, it's been over a year — anyone who can't admit Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election fair and square is either delusional or actively trying to damage our democracy. (Or both.)
And it's time for all of us, and especially the media, to be clear about that. The more that the election gets the "both sides" treatment, the harder it is for our country to recover from one of the darkest chapters in recent history.
Repairing our democracy from the impact of January 6th will take real work. No matter what, that recovery must start with accountability.
Thank you, Amy
