The richest individuals and corporations in our country are NOT the ones who are in dire need of tax cuts. Democrats warned in 2017 that the Trump-GOP tax cuts for the rich and corporations would blow up the deficit, and that Republicans would place the blame on services for working families. Now that prediction is coming true. MAGA Republicans are threatening to shut down the federal government unless Congress bends to their outrageous demands, including cuts to education, nutrition, the IRS, and more. But, while Republicans use federal deficits as their excuse to cut funding for critical services, it's their tax cuts under Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump that dug us $10 trillion into debt. Now, MAGA Republicans are trying to extend the Trump-GOP tax cuts, which would add another $3.5 trillion to our federal debt. Extending the Trump-GOP tax cuts would disproportionately benefit the wealthy: households with incomes over $4.5 million would get an average tax cut of $175,000 in the first year alone while households making less than $50,000 a year would get about 50 cents a day.
