Jason, Alaska is a unique state with unique challenges that shape the way our education system is set up. |
The correspondence school program has provided funding for thousands of homeschooled students in remote parts of the state to purchase educational resources such as curriculum material and textbooks. Despite Alaska's constitution prohibiting state money from being used for private education, Gov. Mike Dunleavy's administration has allowed for these funds to be used to pay for classes at religious and non-religious private schools. Alaska public schools are already facing a major teacher recruitment and retention crisis, and it is our responsibility to fund our public schools and give our students the education they deserve. Together, we can ensure that homeschooling remains an option for students and parents across Alaska, but we must ensure that public money isn't being used to fund private schools while our public schools are left to struggle. Can we count on you to chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can to help us elect Democrats across Alaska and secure a pro-public school majority? |
