That kind of language has no place in our politics — even if she's "joking," it's not funny. She's signaling to her followers it's OK to bring a deadly weapon into a political disagreement.
I'd say it's only a matter of time before something tragic happens. But Kari Lake should know full well that it already has. It was in her home state 13 years ago that a right-wing madman tried to assassinate Rep. Gabby Giffords, shooting 18 people and killing six.
What she said the other day might make her more popular among the shrinking extreme MAGA base — but I've got bad news for Kari Lake: our data shows it's absolutely terrifying for the voters who will decide the outcome this November.
These voters are worried about an unhinged group getting into power and threatening to tear down our democracy. I want to reach as many of those folks as possible in the next six months.
Will you make a donation today and help make sure key voters know all about the dangerous, violent element behind Trump and his allies?
News stories like this make me sick to my stomach. But it's absolutely essential that we see it as a reason to double down on our work — our future depends on preventing these people from retaking power.
Thank you for being part of this work,
Amy
