Nine Republicans joined every Democrat in Congress to send a clear message to Mike Johnson and House GOP leadership
Hey Jason, the Voter Protection Project said I could reach out with some news:
This week, Speaker Mike Johnson held a vote on the House floor to kill my resolution to allow new parents in Congress to vote remotely while raising their newborn children. But it failed. Mike Johnson lost, and common sense won.
Nine Republicans joined every Democrat in Congress to send a clear message to Mike Johnson and House GOP leadership: The status quo is not acceptable.
It's not acceptable that people from middle-class families, and especially young women, have been deterred from running for Congress. It's not acceptable that Congress has been dominated by the interests of older, wealthy men. And it's not acceptable that Mike Johnson tried a desperate, last-second procedural gimmick to silence our voices.
Over the last three months, I went toe-to-toe with the Speaker of the House and all the power he wields. And together, we showed Mike Johnson that nobody fights harder than a mom.
But this fight isn't done. Next up is officially passing this resolution and making sure Congress actually reflects the people we serve. Mike Johnson will fight until the bitter end to prevent us from modernizing Congress, so I need your support more than ever before.
If you believe in my work to make Washington more welcoming to young people and regular families, will you pitch in a split donation between me and the Voter Protection Project? Grassroots support is essential in this fight. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between Brittany Pettersen and VPP will go through immediately: Thank you,

Our enfranchisement agenda includes working to ensure that every state has automatic voter registration and online voter registration, convenient early voting, and independent redistricting commissions to ensure politicians are not able to draw their own maps.
