BREAKING: Maine's ERPO law takes effect

This is a big deal!

Dear Jason, This is a big week: Maine's Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law goes into effect!   Thanks to people like you, now Maine families are empowered to get immediate help if a loved one is in crisis and may be a threat to themselves or others, before dangerous situations become deadly.   Maine's existing law disempowered families and was too burdensome and ineffective. Now, both families and law enforcement have a better tool.   Under Maine's new law, law enforcement or loved ones can petition the court directly to temporarily remove a gun if the judge deems the person to be a danger.    This law is going to save lives, full stop. But we still have our work cut out for us! Maine Gun Safety Coalition is helping to educate Mainers on the new ERPO law so they know their options if a loved one poses a danger.
