THE RACE
Anthony D'Esposito is preparing to officially enter the race against Laura. He is expected to resign from his position as inspector general at the U.S. Department of Labor in the coming days to launch his campaign.
This will be their third match-up. D'Esposito won in 2022, Laura won in 2024 and we are ready for the tiebreaker.
THE LANDSCAPE
Laura flipped this seat in 2024 by 2.3 points in a hard-fought and expensive race.
But the environment has shifted. Republicans are making gains on Long Island, and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is the likely Republican nominee for New York governor, which will drive Republican turnout in this district. Despite recent national trends we should not expect 2026 to be any easier than 2024.
THE STAKES
This race matters well beyond Long Island. Democrats need to pick up three seats to win the House majority and we must hold every seat we have. NY-04 is on the short list of seats that will determine which party controls the House.
WHAT WE NEED
Strong fundraising numbers will be critical to establishing strength. It's important to show that we have the grassroots support to win.
