| Jason, In case you missed it, Mike Lawler recently brought US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to Indian Point, where Lawler called for the reopening of the 64-year-old nuclear plant that shut down partially due to multiple radiation leaks into the Hudson River. As the environmental chair of the Rockland County Legislature, I beat Lawler to the scene. Standing shoulder to shoulder with the activists who have fought for decades to protect the Hudson River from polluters, profiteers, and politicians like former energy lobbyist Mike Lawler, I said "hell no" to this ridiculous proposal. I stood up for our community, and he's now attacking me for it. | | | Let me be clear: we shouldn't even be talking about restarting nuclear energy production at Indian Point. The administration concedes it would take at least 5 years and cost up to $12 billion. If Mike Lawler actually cared about the high home energy costs facing families, he wouldn't have voted for the Big Ugly Bill that slashed clean energy tax credits, jacking up utility costs for families like yours and mine. Instead of doing his job and working on common-sense solutions, he's focused on attacking me, a Rockland County Legislator. I'm also a mom and a two-time cancer survivor, and I refuse to stay quiet about this or any other issue threatening our families' health. Instead of reopening Indian Point, we should work on transitioning to wind, solar, geothermal, and other clean energy sources that create good-paying jobs AND keep our communities safe. Sign my petition today to help me stand against Mike Lawler's attacks and ridiculous proposal: | | | | Thank you, Beth Davidson | |
