Jason,
Ron Johnson just made it official: He's running for a third term.
Of course, that announcement goes against his promise to serve no more than two terms in Washington. But misleading people is one of Ron Johnson's pastimes: Whether it's about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, the violence on January 6th, or the legitimacy of Joe Biden's victory, he lies about all of it.
We made Ron Johnson's seat our top target in 2022 for a reason: For one, this is a very winnable seat — but more importantly, Ron Johnson deserves to lose.
The funny thing is Ron Johnson likes to complain a lot about his job, telling people he'd "rather do something else." Either that's another one of his lies, or it appears somebody convinced him to stick around for a while.
The fact is, special interests love Ron Johnson. He's raked in millions from PACs and corporations in his 11 years in Washington. Those investments paid off big time when he helped Trump pass massive tax cuts that made the rich richer.
But this race matters even more for what it means for the future of democracy. After they tried and failed to steal the last election, Ron Johnson is using the Big Lie to put the Republican state legislature in charge of federal elections in Wisconsin — something that will corrupt future elections in one of the biggest battleground states in the country.
Thank you, Amy
