Jason, While the right to choose remains protected under the constitution here in Alaska, that won't stop anti-abortion extremists from doing everything they can to hold us back. Just last month, Rep. Kevin McCabe in the Alaska Legislature introduced a bill that would grant personhood rights to fetuses, putting mothers and doctors at risk of being charged with murder. But that's not all. Alaska Republicans in the state legislature tried to add a slew of anti-choice amendments to HB 17, a bill meant to expand access to prescription contraception and give women more control over their reproductive health care decisions–especially for those in rural parts of the state.
