Jason, Medicaid funding in Florida is covered by a combination of funding from the state and federal government. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, financial incentives were put in place to encourage states to expand Medicaid access. These incentives would increase the federal government's Medicaid funding match rate, lowering state spending on Medicaid and saving taxpayers millions of dollars annually! As emergency federal funding for Medicaid continues to be phased out, taxpayers in Florida are forced to bear the increased state cost. It doesn't have to be this way. That's why we're fighting to put Medicaid expansion on the ballot in 2026 and let Floridians decide whether or not to unlock billions of federal dollars to support our communities and save taxpayers money.
