As a dad raising two boys in a two-bedroom apartment, I know how hard it is to find an affordable home that's big enough for a family in New York City, Jason, believe me. And as a candidate for mayor, my ultimate goal is to make New York City a place for people to thrive, to stay, and to raise their kids…but that can't happen when families can't find a home. That's why I'm introducing ROOF — Residential Options for Our Families — a plan to construct over 18,400 new family-sized apartments and preserve over 24,000 units. New Yorkers are looking for spaces to not only live, but grow. Yet when only 10% of NYC's affordable housing units have at least three bedrooms, we have a real problem. Families need more space, and I have a plan to make it happen: increase family-sized units in new construction, optimize the Robin Hood housing plan to crack down on bad landlords, and expand affordable home ownership opportunities for families looking to purchase. Living in a shoebox wasn't always normal, Jason, and I'm working to make sure anyone can make their forever home in New York City. But many voters don't know about my housing plans, and with our June primary election not too far away, we're running out of time to make sure they do. Can I count on you to chip in $10 (becomes $90 if you're an eligible NYC resident) before my campaign's end-of-month fundraising deadline on Wednesday to give us a boost?
