| Jason, Happy Black History Month! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the importance of this month and the significance of the movement we're building. For a long time, African Americans have been disproportionately represented in our government and politics. Even today, we're still achieving so many "firsts," and I'm living proof. In 1998, I became the first African American to serve as Chief of Police in Orlando. In 2008, I was the first African American to be elected Orange County Sheriff. And in 2018, I became the first African American Mayor of Orange County. Now, I'm running for governor, and if elected, I would be our state's first African American governor. While it should not have taken this long for us to reach this milestone, the significance of this campaign and the work we're doing together is not lost on me. We have an opportunity to make history this November. I hope you'll consider contributing today to join our team and help us deliver for Floridians. |
