 | | Jason, I don't take the idea of a government shutdown lightly, but we are facing an unprecedented crisis of accountability. In just two years, funding for ICE has exploded by nearly 1000%. This agency now commands a budget larger than the entire U.S. Marine Corps, yet it operates with almost no oversight. While families in Scottsdale and Phoenix struggle to afford the basics, the federal government "found" nearly $100 billion to supercharge ICE, diverting taxpayer dollars away from our hospitals and schools into a militarized deportation machine. The world is watching in horror, as ICE terrorizes Minneapolis. Masked agents have operated with impunity. Republicans in Congress have made it clear they will not rein this in. That leaves us with only one tool left to protect our neighbors: We must support a shutdown of DHS funding until strict, legally binding restrictions on ICE are signed into law. No one is above the law, especially not those sworn to uphold it. Every American deserves dignity and safety in their own home. We need to hold the line before this funding becomes permanent.
