Growing up in Dallas, life wasn't always easy. I was raised by a single mom on a teacher's salary who sometimes had to work another job to make ends meet. Without her sacrifice and the support of our community, I wouldn't be where I am today.
I went on to play in the NFL, become a civil rights lawyer, and proudly serve in the Obama administration. I went on to run for office in 2018 and unseat a 22-year GOP incumbent nobody thought I had a chance in hell to beat. I went on to run for Senate and build one of the largest grassroots movements Texas has ever seen.
Now, I'm ready to work twice as hard to secure victory in our runoff election – but it's going to take serious resources to reach all the voters we need to win.
