| Jason, For most of my career, I've been on the other side of these emails. I've spent years helping elect pro-choice Democratic women to office — organizing, fundraising, and fighting to put women in the rooms where decisions get made. I know how hard that work is. And I know how much it matters. Now I'm the one asking. As a mom and Rockland County legislator, I'm proud to join in celebrating Women's History Month and honoring women's contributions to our country — from science and history to politics, the arts, business, and more. Today and every day, I believe that our celebration must be based not just on words but on consistent action to defend our reproductive freedom, equal access to healthcare, and educational and professional opportunities. That's a record I bring to this race, and I am ready to take it to Congress with your support. | | | | This Women's History Month, I'm running to unseat Mike Lawler and take the Speaker's gavel away from a party that treats women's rights as negotiable. Last year, I sent my daughter off to college and had to face a hard truth: she has fewer rights than I had at her age. Fewer rights than what I devoted my career to protecting. I'm ready to take this fight to Congress and work to restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land, guarantee nationwide access to reproductive care and IVF, repeal the Hyde Amendment, and ensure our government works for women of every background. Mike Lawler talks a moderate game, but his record tells a different story. From voting against reproductive health in the New York State Assembly to voting for the SAVE Act that could disenfranchise millions of women voters, Lawler is the most extreme, anti-family representative our district has ever had. I'd be remiss in talking about Women's History here in the 17th District and not acknowledging the woman on whose shoulders those of us in elected office already stand: Nita Lowey. Elected at a time when just 16 Democratic women served in the U.S. House (today there are 96), Congresswoman Lowey made history as the first woman to chair the House Appropriations Committee, and throughout her career used her office to elevate women and girls. That's certainly the kind of congresswoman I plan to be: rooted in my community, focused on results, and steadfast in the face of this ongoing war on women that Donald Trump and his MAGA minions are so intent on waging. Mike Lawler has shown us who he is—a foot soldier in that war. Now let's show him who we are—tireless fighters for the people. Thank you for being part of the fight, and happy Women's History Month!
