Jason,
Five years ago right about now, I was personally wrestling with whether to run against Mitch McConnell. If I did, I knew it would be a brutal slog, and my odds of winning were long. I knew my name would be dragged through the mud in my hometown. I knew my kids would see scary-sounding TV ads and hear wild things said about their mom.
The reason I decided to run came down to two things:
- I've spent my whole career putting the mission at hand ahead of what was good for me personally, and I wasn't about to stop.
- I wasn't alone. No matter how tough the campaign got, I knew thousands of people like you were out there, and that you had my back.
I'm not sure I've ever told you this, but it's true: Politics can be a lonely enterprise. Knowing you're a part of something bigger than yourself helps keep you going. It's what gives me hope about our country and the election year we have ahead of us. We're in for a difficult campaign, and the stakes are higher than I could ever have imagined. But there are so many people out there who believe, like I do, that our democracy is worth fighting for.
Operation Saving Democracy has a singular mission: to save our democracy from Donald Trump. We have plans to reach key voters in the most critical battleground states next year, but we need to build this plane before we can fly it.
Right now, we're 210 donations from reaching our goal before tomorrow's FEC deadline. Will you make a donation today?
As always, your support means the world to me. Thank you,
Amy
