I don't know where exactly I'll be 315 days from now, but I know what I'll be doing: Biting my nails and hoping we all did enough to stop Donald Trump from reclaiming the White House.
The best way to help with that nervous, dreadful energy is by leaving nothing to chance — by doing everything you can while there's still time on the clock.
The truth is what we all do in this moment matters a ton. Operation Saving Democracy is assembling its plans for the year ahead, and we have identified a key group of voters in a handful of battleground states where we believe we'll have the biggest impact.
Our FEC deadline four days from now will determine how quickly we can start that outreach and how many voters we can reach — right now, we're 501 donations away from our year-end goal. Can you chip in to get us closer?
A lot has been made of polls that show Trump in the lead — despite facing criminal charges for trying to overturn an election, despite talking more and more like a dictator every day. But those polls only tell part of the story.
Our mission at Operation Saving Democracy is to identify the Americans who are being rapidly turned off by Trump and his increasingly anti-democratic agenda — let's call them pro-democracy voters. Many of these folks have voted Republican their whole lives, mostly over national security issues. And they can't stomach what Trump has said about our vets, or his kind words for Putin and Hezbollah, or whatever he says at his next rally that is utterly disqualifying.
The leadership team here is made up of retired generals, former ambassadors, and patriots who typically avoid partisan politics, but who have gotten off the sidelines because they see clearly that our democracy itself is at risk.
Our research shows that these messengers are extremely credible with these pro-democracy voters. We just need the resources to make sure we reach them — will you make a donation before our FEC deadline and help fund this critical work in 2024?
