| Republican Governor Mike Dunleavy is at it again. After the legislature worked hard to raise a long-overdue Base Student Allocation for Alaska students, Dunleavy unilaterally reduced education funding with a line-item veto. School districts from across the state have been pleading for more funding for schools, teachers, and students, but Dunleavy went against the legislature and decided to take it all away – again. Here is a quick rundown of what Dunleavy took away from our schools: - $50.6 in basic allotment funding ($200 per student)
- $5.7 million for early childhood education programs
- $25.1 million for school maintenance and repairs
We need a Governor who will work with the legislature to deliver for our students and teachers, not trash the progress being made. With the Governor's race on the ballot next year — Alaska Democrats are laying the foundation to win. Can you donate right now to help defeat anti-education extremists like Mike Dunleavy? |
