| Jason, Did you see this? Governor Mike Dunleavy tried to pull one of his dirtiest tricks yet! While deployed overseas in Poland with the Alaska Army National Guard, Senator Forrest Dunbar learned that Dunleavy had called a surprise Special Session, timed specifically to make it harder to override his veto of desperately needed education funding. Let that sink in: Dunleavy tried to take advantage of a legislator's active commitment to the military in order to push his anti-education agenda. But Dunbar isn't letting Dunleavy get away with it. He worked through four layers of military command to secure a rare Exception to Policy (ETP) from the overall commander of the Alaska National Guard. And on August 2, he will show up and cast his vote to override Dunleavy's veto to defend Alaska's public schools from catastrophic cuts. That's leadership. That's what it looks like to put your constituents first. Here at the Alaska Democratic Party, we're working hard to elect leaders like Senator Dunbar who will stand up for their constituents, no matter what. We're fighting for public education funding because we know students, teachers, and families are all counting on it. Will you chip in $10 today to help us defend public education and hold Governor Dunleavy accountable? |
