What ICE is doing in Minneapolis and across the country is beyond unacceptable.
This past weekend, another life was taken. This is now the second fatal shooting by ICE in recent weeks. Like many of you, I'm angry and ready to take action.
As DA, my job is to uphold the law, and what ICE is doing is breaking it. That's why last week, I put them on notice here in New Mexico. |
| The message is simple: If you're part of ICE and you break our laws, you will be prosecuted.
I'm not going to sit by and turn a blind eye when people in positions of power violate the law. To the contrary, we will enforce the law for everyone. No one is above it, not even federal agents.
The people of our state deserve leadership that defends civil liberties, protects New Mexicans from abuse of power, and holds accountable those who think they can act with impunity.
