I recently introduced legislation to require ICE agents in Michigan to wear uniforms that identify themselves and ban them from wearing masks to conceal their identities.
We cannot have law enforcement act as masked vigilantes in our communities.
Even in this heightened political climate, our government must be transparent and accountable to the public. In the Legislature, we haven't changed our procedures to take votes in secret when making laws. In the same way, officers should also be transparent and accountable when enforcing laws.
My bill is about restoring trust, protecting our communities, and ensuring power is never exercised in the shadows.
I'm running for Congress because we need leaders who aren't afraid to show up in the face of adversity and challenge the status quo.
