| Jason, I'm writing to share something deeply personal with you. Less than a year after I got married, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Doctors guessed the cancer had been growing for 4 or 5 years. I underwent a thyroidectomy, had more than 80 lymph nodes removed, and received radioactive iodine treatment. Battling cancer was hard enough, but battling my insurance company to cover my lifesaving care became a second-full time job. Then, when my husband and I were finally able to start our family, we were diagnosed with infertility. We went through IVF, paying out-of-pocket for much of my care. Eventually, I was able to get pregnant, and we had our beautiful daughter, Josie—only to find out my cancer was back. A second round of radioactive iodine separated me from my baby for a week and ended my ability to breastfeed her. We survivors and family say Cancer Sucks. Well, you know what? So does Mike Lawler's healthcare record. Lawler's recent vote on the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" will take away healthcare from tens of thousands of people in NY-17. His vote would hurt the very people he's supposed to represent, forcing families to choose between getting care and paying rent, between their health and their future. I'm running for Congress because this is personal for me. Healthcare is a human right, and I'll fight every day to ensure that every person has the chance to get the care they need without fighting an insurance company. But I can't do it alone. If you believe that every person in this country is entitled to basic healthcare, I hope you'll join me in my campaign to flip NY-17: |
