I never expected to run for office, but in 2018, I stepped up and ran for Congress in a district that hadn't elected a Democrat since 1968 — and we won.
That year marked a real turning point. A wave of new leaders — including a record number of women — stepped up, flipped long-held Republican districts, and made it clear that the old way of doing things in Washington wasn't going to cut it anymore.
My good friend Angie Craig and I were both elected as part of that historic Congressional class — a group united by a shared commitment to do things differently and deliver real results for the people we serve.

She's never backed down from tough fights — from winning a landmark case to adopt her son and protect the rights of LGBTQ+ families, to standing up in Congress against Donald Trump's chaos and corruption by voting to impeach him twice.
And she's delivered real results, including taking on Big Pharma and writing the bill that capped insulin at $35 a month.
Last November, I flipped the Virginia Governor's seat and showed what's possible — when Democrats come together around real leadership and a clear purpose, we win.
Now, Minnesota has the opportunity to build on that same kind of momentum by electing Angie Craig to the U.S. Senate — and Democrats have no shot of taking back the Senate without holding this seat.
