| Hi Jason, it's Shannon. These past few months have made it clearer than ever: ICE is acting as a lawless agency that is terrorizing our communities. We need a fundamental overhaul. Allowing violent, masked, and untrained agents to act with impunity is dangerous and un-American. Reform must start immediately. That's why I've released a plan to fix this broken system. Here's what that looks like: - Body Cameras and Transparency: All field agents must wear body cameras while on duty. The footage should be made readily available to the public to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Identifiable and Vetted Officers: Every ICE officer must pass a thorough background check. While on duty, they must wear clearly marked uniforms with visible badges — no face masks to hide their identity. All ICE vehicles must also be visibly marked.
- Protect Private Data and Safe Spaces: ICE must not arrest anyone without a warrant or access private data without consent. Certain places like schools, hospitals, places of worship, courthouses, and playgrounds should be designated off-limits for enforcement actions.
- Stronger Training and Limits on Force: Pass the Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act, which would set clear use-of-force standards by limiting deadly force to situations where there is "no reasonably effective, safe, and feasible alternative."
- New Leadership and Accountability: I called for Kristi Noem to be fired in January, but just because Noem is gone, the work to hold ICE accountable every day doesn't stop. Fire Tom Homan. Put someone in charge with a police background, not a politician.
If you agree that we urgently need a fundamental overhaul of ICE, add your name in support of my plan to put a stop to the lawlessness and cruelty and fix this broken system. |
| Thanks for standing with us, Shannon |
