One of the most important moments of this campaign

Why a boring campaign deadline actually matters in a battleground race like Arizona

Jason, some campaigns manufacture fake deadlines to pressure you into giving.

Our upcoming FEC deadline is real. It's federally mandated, and we're required by law to publicly report our fundraising — and right now, we have less than 24 hours to close our spending gap.

Polling shows Jonathan Treble is the strongest Democrat to flip AZ-01. But the question everyone in politics starts asking at an FEC deadline is: Does he have the resources to win?

This FEC report is one of the most important moments of this campaign. Here's why:

  • After midnight tomorrow, every campaign's financial report becomes public. Pundits and the press will line up our numbers next to our opponents'.

  • If our report shows real strength, we earn more attention, more endorsements, and more momentum to grow this movement.

  • If we fall short, the establishment will try to write us off before voters ever have their say.

When Republicans and their billionaire backers see weakness, they spend more money. They flood the airwaves. They try to stop our momentum. That's the reality of how this system works, and sending the strongest report possible sends a loud message.

It says the polls are right. It says working people are paying attention. It says Arizona is not for sale. And it says this campaign has the resources to win.

So when we talk about an FEC deadline, what we're really talking about is whether we can publicly show the strength behind what we're building together.

So, with that in mind: Will you pitch in $25 or whatever you can before tonight's FEC deadline?

If you can spare anything at all — even a few dollars — it'd greatly help our campaign.
