Folks, President Obama just issued a dire warning for every Democrat:
The SAVE Act is a modern day poll tax that undermines Americans’ fundamental right to vote. This bill aims to:
1. End mail-in voter registration and voter registration drives.
2. Upend automatic and online voter registration.
3. Require every voter to show a birth certificate or passport to prove their citizenship, even though it’s already illegal for non-citizens to vote.
Every American citizen is entitled to vote, and that’s exactly what Republicans and oligarchs can’t stand, because disenfranchising eligible voters is how they remain in power.
Half of Americans do not have a valid passport or a birth certificate that matches their identification, meaning they could all be deemed ineligible to vote.
Republicans claim this will stop voter fraud by non-citizens (which is virtually non-existent), but we know why they’re really doing this: when the multi-racial working class shows up to vote, billionaires and Republicans lose.
