Happy Women's History Month. I'm thinking about my great-grandmother, my mother, and the generations of women who came before me.
My mom was born in a train boxcar where the Laguna people built a community far from home. She served in the U.S. Navy, raised four kids as a military wife, and spent more than two decades in Indian education. I come from generations of resilient, fierce Pueblo women. They taught me to Be Fierce — to protect our communities and never back down.
That's why I ran for office. Standing on their shoulders, I became one of the first Native women elected to Congress and then the first Native American Cabinet secretary — and the whole time, I never stopped being fierce.
I've stood up to corporate polluters. I rebuilt the Department of the Interior after Trump slashed staff, cut budgets, and rolled back protections. I defended our public lands and our people when they were under attack.
And I won't stop now.
But I can't do this alone. Will you split a donation of $5 or whatever you can today between Democratic Values and my campaign to help me keep fighting for New Mexico? Jason, right now Trump and his allies are doing everything they can to tear us down — gutting health care, raising costs, ignoring the affordability crisis, attacking reproductive freedom, dismantling voting rights, and sowing fear in our communities to hold onto power.

I was a single mom. I relied on Medicaid, WIC, and SNAP. I worked multiple jobs and started a small salsa business to get by. I know what it means to keep fighting — even when it feels like things aren't getting any easier.
That's why I'm prepared to lead.
I understand affordability because I've lived it. I know how critical strong public schools, accessible health care, and safe communities are — because my family relied on them.
And I've led at the highest levels of government — in Congress and as U.S. Secretary of the Interior — where I took on tough fights and delivered real results.
Experience matters. Leadership matters. And I'm ready.
But there are Republicans ready to spend whatever it takes to bring Trump's extreme agenda to New Mexico — and we can't let that happen.
