Jason, Last week, it was announced that ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons is resigning. To that I say: Good riddance. For too long, Kristi Noem, Todd Lyons, and the Trump administration unleashed chaos instead of accountability – sending masked, unidentifiable agents into our communities and creating fear where there should be safety. That’s why I released a plan to completely overhaul ICE. My plan would require body cameras for all field agents, ensure officers are clearly identifiable and properly vetted, reinstate protected areas like schools and hospitals, and strengthen training to prevent the use of excessive force. We can have security without fear and enforce the law without abandoning our values. But right now, Gabe Evans is standing with Trump and refusing to push for the reforms our communities need. This race is one of the most competitive in the country, and we have a real chance to replace him with leadership that will actually stand up for Colorado.
