BREAKING from NPR:

Folks, Senator Elissa Slotkin revealed she’s under federal investigation for a short video reminding service members of a basic, long-standing principle: they are not required to follow illegal orders.

NPR: "Democrat Elissa Slotkin says she is under investigation for illegal orders video."

That’s not a radical claim. It’s settled law under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. And it’s something every member of the military is trained to understand.

What is alarming is that a sitting U.S. Senator is now being scrutinized for saying it out loud.

This comes after Senator Mark Kelly was already targeted by the Department of Defense for the very same reason.

At a moment when political leaders are openly testing the limits of executive power, this investigation sends a chilling message, that even affirming constitutional guardrails can put a target on your back. Whether or not this inquiry goes anywhere, the precedent alone should concern anyone who cares about democracy, civilian control of the military, and free political speech. If you agree this is a line we can’t let be crossed, add your name to stand up for the rule of law and constitutional accountability.

We’ll continue to keep you informed as this develops — and we won’t stop pushing back when democratic principles are under attack.

In solidarity,

Forward Blue
