| Good news to kick off the year: Last month, the Michigan Senate and House *unanimously* passed my bills with Senator Mallory McMorrow to help keep kids safe from active shooters. It isn't easy to get any bill through committee in a divided Legislature, let alone with no opposition. But by the end of the year, we got it done and Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed it into law. ✅ Here's what we did: π Last term, we changed the fire and building codes to allow for automatic door locks in schools in the event of an emergency in the building. πΆ Now, we're expanding that protection to include those inside childcare centers. This may not grab national headlines — but it matters, especially to kids, teachers, and providers who are confronted with the tragic situation of an active shooter. Because protecting kids shouldn't be controversial. This is just one more way I'm working to keep our communities safe — from early childhood centers to classrooms to Congress. If you support this kind of leadership, will you chip in $25 today to help us keep going strong? |
| Grateful to be in this fight with you π — Jeremy |
