| Hi Jason, Today is January 22, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. For nearly 50 years, Roe protected a basic freedom in this country: the right to make personal decisions about our own healthcare. That protection is now gone. And the consequences are real, painful, and unfolding every day. Since Roe was overturned, we've seen bans passed with no exceptions, doctors threatened with jail time, and families forced into impossible situations. This isn't theoretical. It's happening right now. I'm running for Congress because I believe healthcare decisions belong between patients and their doctors – not politicians like Ryan Mackenzie, who cheered when Roe was overturned. I'm proud to be the only woman in this race. I've earned the support of organizations like EMILYs List and Elect Democratic Women, who are committed to electing candidates who will protect our fundamental freedoms. This fight isn't over. And it won't be won by staying silent. If you believe that bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are worth fighting for, I hope you'll stand with me as we work to make sure these rights are protected once and for all. Thank you for being part of this movement, Carol Obando-Derstine |
