Nick Begich voted to RAISE health care costs

We can't afford to have sellouts like Nick Begich in office.

Dear Jason, Tens of thousands of Alaskans are about to hit a health care cliff — and Nick Begich voted to push them over it. On January 1, enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies expired. For roughly 25,000 Alaskans, that means one thing: dramatically higher health insurance costs, or losing coverage altogether. These subsidies weren't a luxury. They were the difference between being insured and going without care in a state where health care is already expensive and hard to access. The US House stepped up and passed a bill to extend ACA subsidies to prevent this crisis. Nick Begich voted against it and betrayed Alaska families. Now, families are facing premium increases that are impossible to absorb. Seniors are worried about being able to afford their medications. Parents are asking whether they can keep their family insured at all. Some Alaskans are already making heartbreaking choices—limiting their income, cutting back on essentials, and avoiding doctors' visits. Others are staring at monthly premiums that tripled overnight. This isn't theoretical. It's happening right now. Congress had months to prevent this. The House finally came together to act. But Nick Begich chose special interests over Alaskans, even as healthcare costs here remain among the highest in the country. Health care shouldn't depend on political timing or last-minute negotiations.
