| Jason, With great power comes great responsibility. The United States certainly has the power, now we need to elect leaders who can and will accept and shoulder the responsibility to the U.S. public that comes with that power. The current bombing campaign the U.S. forces are conducting in Iran demonstrates once more the precision, effectiveness and lethality of American military power. Unfortunately, sudden, violent and unexpected military action by one country against another does not promote peace in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world, even if the country being attacked is Iran, notorious for exporting terror and butchering its own citizens. We need more order, stability, and deliberately considered action. Congressional consultation and authority, a rational end game, a strong argument made to the American public for military action, and some idea or plan of how violence like what we are seeing in Iran achieves or advances the cause of peace is necessary and required. Hoping for good things to result from actions like we are seeing does not constitute a plan. Please consider who you are electing to office this fall and why. Thank you, Don Coover |
