- In this year’s first quarter, we outraised our opponent, Republican Derek Schmidt, who’s been in politics for over two decades. Don was just one of 20 Democratic challengers to outraise a sitting Republican incumbent.
- Recent polling shows we have a real opportunity to flip this district! Once voters learn about our campaign, we are just 4 points behind our opponent, in what has been a Republican-held seat for several cycles.
- Democratic Governor Laura Kelly not only won statewide in 2022 against Schmidt, but she also defeated him in this district.
- Don is a different Democrat than we’ve fielded in this district in the past. He’s a rancher, Army veteran, and veterinarian who’s deeply rooted in rural Kansas.
- With redistricting around the country still in flux (but not in Kansas), this seat has become even more important to flip from red to blue.
So here’s what we need to do: we’re building strong momentum, but we have to reach our goal of collecting 775 donations this month, which will allow us to keep going toe-to-toe with Schmidt’s strategy of collecting big checks from special interests and corporate PACs. And it’s worked for us before.
So, as Don’s campaign manager, I need to ask you today: will you pitch in any amount to this grassroots campaign to help us reach our 775 donations goal and keep us in the fight to flip this district? |
