Jason , it’s Beto.
Something powerful is happening in Texas right now.
For years, we’ve been doing the hard work to flip Texas — a state where Republicans have always tried to make voting harder. We’ve registered voters, recruited candidates for every place on the ballot, and found ways to overcome the extreme voter suppression from the Republicans in power. And now, this race has the potential to capitalize on all of the hard work, all of the campaigns that have come before, to break through and win.
Back in March, Gina won her Democratic primary, which sparked real energy across the state. From Amarillo to Brownsville, El Paso to Austin, she and other Democrats on the ballot helped generate turnout numbers we haven’t seen in decades.
This shift is showing up beyond this race, too. Over the last few weeks, Texans have been voting for change in local elections across the state.
It’s not a guarantee of what happens in November, but it’s a sign we can’t ignore. Texans are paying attention, they’re engaged, and they’re ready for real leadership.
Because after more than a decade of Greg Abbott, Texans are looking around and asking a simple question. What are we getting from Abbott’s leadership?
We have the highest number of uninsured people in the country, including children. Families are struggling to pay bills and put food on the table. We rank too low on education for a state that should be leading the nation. But Abbott’s donors and the insiders who stay close to power are doing just fine.
We can’t afford another four years of that. And Abbott knows it.
He will do everything in his power to protect his grip on Texas — and he has the money and the influence to help him.
So this is our chance to meet the moment and do everything we can to help Gina win.
